Last week, we featured the closest thing to a bargain that you’ll find in the Tucker world–an example built from three different cars, listed for sale at $1.1 million. But, if you want a fully-numbers-matching Tucker, the same dealer is offering that too. It’s Tucker #046, and it’s yours for $2.1 million.
A significant amount of money, but that’s the going rate for original Tucker 48s, especially when they’re in such great condition. The car is fresh off a no-expense-spared restoration where the engine and gearbox were rebuilt, the interior was re-done, and the exterior was repainted based on original factory samples. Nostalgic Motors, the Michigan dealer offering this Tucker, even says that the car’s Torsilastic suspension is better than new.
It’s about as perfect as a Tucker can be. Hence the price.
With only 51 Tuckers built before this innovative company was uncerimoniously killed, it’s hard to find examples for sale, especially ones this nice. Also considering a few recent unrestored barn-find Tuckers are worth $3 million, this restored 48 seems like a good deal.
