This 1905 Fiat with an Airplane Engine Can Hit 127 MPH

Do you like torque? If so, you’ll want to give this car a look because boy does it have a lot of torque. Boatloads of torque. Mountains of torque. Crazy amounts of torque. Only 250 horsepower or so, but about 3,000 pound-feet of torque. Enough torque that it will hit 127 mph.

How is that possible? Because this 1905 Fiat is powered by an Isotta Fraschini aircraft engine from World War I.

Will it do burnouts? You bet it will do burnouts. Can you kick the tail out around a corner? Of course you can. Does the owner of this car do so regularly? Oh yeah.

“These machines need to be driven, and that is the passion of the car,” he says.

Regularly driving a car that’s so old and sends that much torque to the rear wheels requires a brave driver, but we sure do respect him for keeping this marvel of a car on the road.
